Title:
The Story of the SLOC Mascots
Salt Lake City Utah (UT), Continental Chrome unused

Description:
The mascots have been created to continue to tell the story of the Salt Lake Games and are based on our culture. The mascot story begins with our Native American ancestry long ago. The inspiration was the 2000 year old etchings found in the desert canyon walls. Our first known artists created the marks and explained the stories behind them in Native American legends and myths. These legends echo the Olympic Motto of "Citius, Altius, Fortuis" (Swifter, higher, stronger). The hare was swifter; the coyote reached higher; the bear was stronger. The Salt Lake 2002 Mascots honor the history of the games and the culture of the land.
