第18回オリンピック競技大会記念 世界98国、8,000人の若人の参加する史上最大のスポーツの祭典、 第18回オリンピック競技大会は、1964年10月10日東京国立競技場に おいて、天皇陛下親臨のもとに開会され、以後10月24日まで15日間、 20種目の競技がこの国立競技場ほか都内および近県30余の競技場に おいて行われるが、このうちレスリングの行われる駒沢体育館は、 駒沢オリンピック公園内にあって、陸上競技場、ホッケー場、バレ ー・コート球技場、野球場、サブトラック等の一連の施設で、4本 の棟梁と、4枚の機物双曲面シェルに八角形で構成されている、一 きわ目立った建物である。建築面積6,390平方米、収容人員固定スタ ンド3,000人、アリーナ補助席1,000人である。 THE XVIII OLYMPIAD TOKYO 1964 The XVIII Olympic Games commence on October 10, 1964 with the opening ceremony held in the Imperial presence at the National Athletic Stadium Tokyo. The Games become the Festival of Sports on the largest scale in history of Olympiad, having some 8,000 entrants from 98 countries. The contests of 20 events are carried out for 15 days in different sites in and around Tokyo. Komazawa Gymnasium, the venue for the wrestling event, is situated in the Komazawa Sports Park established to have facilities for several sports such as athletic stadium, hockey field, volley-ball court, playing ground for baseball , etc. The structure of this gymnasium building is very conspicuous having octagonal form with four ridge-beams and four shells of parabola-hyperboloid.
