CONFEDERATE MONUMENT
MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA
The Confederate Monument at the north side of
Alabama's historic Capitol was erected in mem-
ory of the Confederate dead. Jefferson Davis,
First President of the Confederacy who took his
oath of office on the portico of the State Capitol
at Montgomery, laid the cornerstone at
monies held April 26, 1889.
