The original "tall halls" of Illinois State Univer-
sity, Normal, are Hamilton and Whitten residence
halls, whose construction signaled the start of
high rise dormitories on state university
campuses. Each hall houses 408 women, and
with their later-built "twins," Atkin-Colby halls,
provide space for 1,632 coeds.
