The Bell Inn, Stilton, is a picturesque survival of the
"good old days" when coaches were the only public
method of conveyance about the country. It bears the
date 1642, though it is supposed to have been erected
some years previously. Here, in the heyday of its fame,
thirty-six coaches passed by or stopped every day. It
possesses a quaint old sign with some beautiful ironwork
on the supports.
