The CHAFEE SOCIAL SCIENCE CENTER was dedicated
in 1972 and is the headquarters for the College of Arts and
Sciences. With its eight-story tower, it is the only highrise
building on the Kingston Campus. The building is named
for John H. Chafee, Rhode Island's Senator, who was
Governor at the time the building was planned.
