MEMORIAL COLUMNS
The entryway to the University of Nebraska, Kearney features two
restored columns from the Old Main Administration Building, which
was razed in 1984. Dr. Lee and Jane Smith provided for the
restoration and installation of the columns at the entryway. The
Smiths dedicated the pillars in honor of their parents Roger and Ruth
Smith and George and Alta Munro. The Smith's interest in the
history of the college, recognition of higher education, and their love
and gratitude for their parents are demonstrated through the
establishment of this focal point for the campus entrance.
THE NEBRASKAN STUDENT UNION
The Nebraskan Student Union was completed in 1964. The
community center of the University of Nebraska, Kearney, and the
facilities and services of the Nebraskan were expanded in 1983.
