| Whitby is one of the most picturesque seaside resorts on the north east coast of England. It is situated at the mouth of the river Esk, and is surrounded by high and precipitous cliffs. There is an excellent harbour with ample accommodation. Fishing and jet-working are the chief industries of the town. Fishing craft from all parts of the North Sea are always found there. |
