Additional Details:
On the eastern edge of the Sierra Nevada Mountains lies Bishop, an outdoor enthusiast's paradise. Known as the 'Mule Capital of the World', for its Memorial Day weekend Mule Days celebration, the town is named for Samuel A. Bishop, a First Sergeant in the Mariposa Battalion in the 1850's who eventually settled in the Owens Valley.
