Additional Details:
Long, long ago (says the Legend), a blustering wind carried to the south door of Lincoln Minster, a wicked little Imp, who had escaped from "Down Below." The rude wind blew open the door, and, full of unholy mischief, in went the Imp. Once inside, according to the Legend, many and various were the sins and sacrileges he committed, and the mischief he wrought. At length the Angel Choir attracted his attention, and alighting on top of a pillar, he commenced with impious grins to insult the Angelic company. Then it is said, the least of all the Angels raised his head & gave the Imp one look. And at that look the wicked intruder was turned then & there, into stone, where he may to this day be seen of all men.
