Amelia Gayle Gorgas Library at the University of Alabama. The cornerstone was laid in 1937 and the building was dedicated in 1942. It is named for Amelia Gayle Gorgas, University librarian from 1878 to 1907, and mother of William C. Gorgas, Surgeon General of the US Army and conqueror of yellow fever in Panama.
