Description:
LOMITA RAILROAD MUSEUM LOMITA JUNCTION Woodward Ave. & 250th St. West Lomita, California 90717 This mural is a part of the Lomita Railroad Museum. It is 72 ft. long and 25 ft. high and covers a wall on California First Bank Building on the corner of Pacific Coast Hwy. and Narbonne Ave. in Lomita, California. The engine is almost full size. The mural is well done--the colors are amazingly beautiful and it is illuminated at night. The Museum proper is a Victorian Depot, built in 1966 by Irene Lewis and given to the City of Lomita. Exact in every detail, it has hardwood interior and bricked-in yard. A #1765 Mogul built by Baldwin in 1902, U.P. caboose of 1910 plus a 1913 all wood boxcar are realistically exhibited on tracks. A unique display of railroadiana is housed here. A charming recreation park is available for group activities and general public enjoyment. With a decor such as benches, water fountain, lights, brick work, etc. of the Victorian era. Photo by Carlo Marino
