Description:
This 12-watt yellow sodium laser creates an artificial "star" 90 kilometers above the ground. Light from the laser guide-star is analyzed by sophisticated optics at the telescope. This allows instant real-time correction for atmospheric turbulence, and yields precise celestial images that rival those from space telescopes.
