Mike J. Beckers 12 miles southwest of Rapid City on US 165, the road to Mt. Rushmore. Night street scene in Rockerville, a ghost town come to life and rebuilt and furnished in the style and manner of the gold rush days of the Black Hills. The Rockerville Meller-Drammer Theatre plays nightly during the summer season. This is the site of Rockerville, a gold town with a population of 4,000 in 1878.

Description:
On Highway #16, the road to Mount Rushmore in the Black Hills of South Dakota. A Gold Camp revived on the original site. This log cabin was built in 1876 and has been in continuous use since that date as a home, store, tavern, gambling hall, and until furnished as it appears in the picture, was part of a filling station. The furnishings are of the early period of Rockerville, which at one time was a town of 2000 with a newspaper, a bank, stores and seven saloons
