General Abercrombie's Headquarters while marching to attack Fort Ticonderoga in 1758 where it is said at the Cantonment east of this house near the old mill, the army surgeon R. Shuckburg composed the popular song of Yankee Doodle

The New Dunn Memorial Bridge Connecting Albany and Rensselaer, N. Y. Albany is the second oldest city in the United States, and since 1797 has been the capitol of the Empire State. It was a strategic center during Colonial Days, and its was here in 1754 that steps were taken by the Colonial Congress to consider a federation of the colonies. It has always been an important trading and transportation center.

"Yankee Doodle", marching song of the American troops in the Revolutionary War, was written here in 1758 by Dr. Richard Shuckburg, a British Army surgeon. Fort Crailo is a well preserved remnant of early Dutch settlement in the Albany area. The carefully reconstructed interior is furnished with authentic pieces of the period.
