On the left is a covered-wagon train of '49, encamped for the night in a Sierra pass. On the right is a dock scene in early-day San Francisco - a sailing ship rocking with the tide, a stage coach awaiting its passengers. In the center panel is the artist's conception of the City of the Future. Fifty animated figures give the diorama life and reality. The "Good Earth Village" costing $1,250,000 is one of the Fair's largest concessions. It is a reproduction of an ancient Chinese walled city, with shops, dwellings, cafes, shrine, theatre, temple and gardens. Native farmers are seen working in rice paddies and soya bean patches - artisans carving ivory, jade, silver, mother of pearl and porcelain, thin as an egg shell, is manufactured - festivals and plays abound. Fortune telling by trained Chinese Larks is very interesting

Made from California products only and from the same recipe as the cake sent from California to President and Mrs. Roosevelt each Christmas. The decorations, made entirely of sugar and certified pure food coloring took one year to make. The dimensions of the cake: 5 feet on the base, 3 feet high and 3 feet across on top of the cake.
