Description:
The Locust Summit Central Breaker of the Phila. & Reading Coal & Iron Co., has a daily capacity output of more than 16,500 tons of prepared asthracite coal. Carloads of run of the nine coal are fed into the breaker at the rate of one every two and a half minutes. The great conveyor belts carry this coal at the rate of 1,200 tons per hour to the machinery which sizes and cleans it and removes all impurities. The inclined structure beginning at the left and leading to the top of the breaker contains the conveyor belts. The pipe lines at the right enclose other conveyor belts which carry off incombustible material which is removed in the breaker.

Description:
An all volunteer department, the Mount Carmel, Pa. Fire Dept. has four stations in the city. Each station has its own name and identity as the rigs of each station are painted a different color. In this July 10, 1976 photo, the green engine belongs to the Clover Hose Company. It is a 1965 Hahn on an International chassis with a 750gpm pump. The orange rig is the West end fire co. 1967 Ward LaFrance 750gpm pumper.

Description:
This viaduct leads into the town of Mt. Carmel, located in the Mountains of the Anthracite Coal Region of Pennsylvania. The view is one of the most unusual, showing a line of Catholic Churches all of different nationalities. The first one is the Mother of Consolation Polish Roman Catholic Church; next in line is Church of St. Peter and St. Paul Russian Greek Catholic Church and the third is St. Peter's Italian Roman Catholic Church.
