Description:
In this building Benedict Arnold met Major John Andre. Andre hid the papers containing plans of West Point and the American forces in his boots. While this meeting was in progress the Captain of the "Vulture," the man-of-war that had brought Arnold to Haverstraw, took fright at a random shot fired below the Highlands and, thinking the plot discovered, dropped down the river below Tarrytown, forcing Andre to cross the Hudson, and proceed by foot to Tarrytown, where he was captured.
