The log Cabin is the oldest studio at the MacDowell Colony, Peterborough, N. H. In it the celebrated composer, Edward MacDowell, wrote some of his most admired music. The studio was the gift of the Composer's wife. When it was completed the MacDowells wrote their names in the wet cement of the hearth where the visitor today may clearly read "Edward and Marian, 1899".
