Preserved as a public shrine, the birthplace of Dwight David Eisenhower, President of the United States of America, 1953-1960, is located in the southeast part of Denison. The famed World War II hero was born Oct. 14, 1890, in the first floor room on the right. HIs parents were David J. and Ida Elizabeth Eisenhower. The father was an employee of the Katy Railroad. The close proximity of Lake Texoma, one of the nation's top recreation centers, serves to draw hundreds of additional tourists to the Eisenhower birthplace

Shortly after the birth of the future president, the Eisenhower family moved to Abilene, Kansas where "like" spent his school days until entering West Point. In addition to this memorial in his honor, a great National Shrine is now completed at Abilene where myriads pay tribute to the western young man who made good.
