Here lived that truly Christian martyr and here she was arrested for witchcraft on March 24th. She went to her ignoble death on Gallows Hill July 19th of that year. The house is still standing amid the broad acres she loved so well. In all nineteen persons were hanged, eight in one day Sept. 22, 1693, and one man, Giles Corey was pressed to death three days earlier. There is no foundation for the story that the witches were burned. This house was erected in 1686

Danvers Massachusetts (MA), Divided Back PM 1914 Apr-18

Description:
The Old Parris House, Danvers, Mass. Danvers was cut off from Salem in the year 1732. The witchcraft horror, historically connected with Salem, really originated in this house in Danvers, five miles distant from the Salem of to-day. It lasted about six months, from the first accusations in March, 1692, to the last executions in September. Nineteen persons were hanged and one man, Giles Corey, was pressed to death; the only instance where this old English penalty for refusing to plead was enforced in New England. Eight persons were hanged on Gallows Hill Sept. 22nd, the last to occur in the Colony. This old house was demolished many years ago; a stone now marks the site
