Major John Andre, British spy, having plotted with
Benedict Arnold to deliver West Point to the
British, was confined here prior to his execution,
October 2, 1780.
The room in which Andre was imprisoned, also the
original bar, may still be seen. The famous "Orange-
town Resolutions," containing germ of great princi-
ples of the Declaration of Independence, were
adopted here July 4, 1774.
