| World's Highest Bridge over one of the World's Most Stupendous Chasms. This steel bridge constructed in 1929 offers new conceptions of the thrilling depths of the Royal Gorge. It is a toll bridge for autos as well as foot passengers and gives access to the hitherto unapproachable south rim of the gorge. The bridge is a quarter of a mile in length with a span of 880 ft. between the towers; 150 ft. in height. From its center one may look on an unobstructed drop of 1052 feet to the bottom of the gorge |
