The Alpine scene painted on the front of the
bank is an artist's conception of the famous
Gotthard Pass in the Alps that separates Switz-
erland from France. This Railroad tunnel is 9.3
miles long. A small passenger train actually
comes in and out of two simulated tunnels,
which can be seen to the left of the painting.
This tunnel was completed in 1881.
