The mammoth pressroom of The Milwaukee
Journal—the heart of the plant-extends al-
most two-thirds of the first floor. The huge
Journal presses are capable of producing 144,-
000 32-page papers an hour. These presses
produced 70,238,976 newspapers last year,
using 23,672 tons of paper. Every Sunday
228.252 families in Milwaukee and Wisconsin
read The Journal, and the average daily circu-
lation is 175,267. The Milwaukee Journal is
read by four out of five Milwaukee families
and goes into every third home throughout
Wisconsin.
