The Griffith Observatory includes a planetarium, hall
of science, and 12-inch refracting telescope. It is the
gift of Griffith J. Griffith to the City of Los Angeles,
was opened on May 15, 1935, and is located at an
elevation of 1135 feet on the slope of Mt. Hollywood.
