Vicksburg, Mississippi
is the principal research development and
testing facility of the U.S. Army Corps of Engi-
neers with capabilities in the scientific fields of
hydraulics, soil and rock mechanics, concrete,
engineering geology, pavements, expedient construction,
nuclear and conventional weapons effects, protective
structures, vehicle mobility, environmental relationships,
aquatic weeds, water quality, dredged material research,
and nuclear and chemical explosives excavation. Open
daily to the public Monday through Friday with free
guided tours at 10 A.M. and 2 P.M. Demonstration
model at Visitors Facility open year-round.
