Lyons is the second largest city in France. It is the great warehuse of the south of France and Switzerland. Its principal manufacture being silk stuffs, giving employment to 100,000 people in this industry. Among the notable institutions are the Board of Trade, the Church of St. Nizier, the Hotel de Ville and the Palais des Beaux Arts. The quays, 28 in number, are siad to be the most remarkable in Europe.
