Cowboy and Burros in Desert with campfire, Arizona Afterglow, Painting by Fernand Lungren
F.Lungren. 79007 ARIZONA AFTERGLOW. COPR. FRED HARVEY.
FRED HERE, PRVEY AND CANADA. FOREIGN. TWO MADE ONLY BY DETROIT PUBLISHING CO. "PHOSTINT" CARD. TRADE MARK - REG. U. S. PAT. OFF. (After painting by Fernand Lungren.) When the sun has gone down there comes upon the desert a soft, suffusing light, the afterglow, which is its chiefest charm. The light fades slowly and with twilight comes the ever present purple haze, as indescribable as it is indefinite, that half-veils the horizon and tinges the middle distances. One forgets the dreary stretches of sand and alkali, the gleaming sun, the scorching wind, the thirsty vege- tation that all belong to the desert, in the fascination of the first shadows of evening.
