The federal offices, among which is the office
of the Judge of the U. S. Court, are located
in the Post Office. Opposite the post office is
a statue of Judge Hardy, one of the outstanding
pioneer citizens of south Mississippi, who start-
ed' the Gulf and Ship Island Railroad which was
later taken over by Captain T. J. Jones and
built from Gulfport to Jackson.
