The plasma region of the Tandem Mirror Experiment-
Upgrade, shown under maintenance, is surrounded by
room-temperature walls (50°C) within liquid-nitro-
gen-temperature walls (-200°C). These walls, coated
with titanium atoms from heated wires (1,800°C), ab-
sorb excess hydrogen-gas fuel to prevent cooling of
the 10,000,000°C fusion plasma.
