The last remaining vestige of Hart's Department Store in San Jose as seen from the Guadalupe
Expressway. The Harts were very popular with San Jose residenta and when their son Brooke was
kidnapped and murdered the assailants were dragged from the jail and lynched in St. James Park,
near midnight on Sunday, November 26, 1933.
