In the early hours of June 28, 1969, the police raided the TONEWALL The call for lesbian, gay, bisexual, drag and transgender
Stonewall Inn in New York City's Greenwich Village.
For the police, it was just another routine raid on a gay har on
Christopher Street. But this time, we fought hack!
The Stonewall Rebellion lasted for three days and nighesand no one
could have imagined how they were changing the course of history.
Suddenly, the ancient burden of oppression was transformed
into anger, self-aflirmation, pride-and ACCTION!
liberation was heard around the world. Today.
our movement ranks among the grear forces in the struggle for
human rights. On June 26, 1994, we will gather in diversity
and solidarity with many victories to celebrate aud many injustices
to protest. We will remember those who have died of hatred,
whether by violence or by government inaction in the face of the
AIDS epidemic. Our voices will be heard! Join us!
