The Santa Cruz Beach/Boardwalk Merry-Go-Round
ranks as one of the world's greatest examples of
a traditional ride from the Golden Age of amuse
ment devices. Built in 1910, by the master of
them all-Charles 1. D. Looff of Denmark +The
Santa Cruz unit carries 62 hand carved horses
and two Roman Chariots. 30 million people have
ridden the machine in 54 years. As a museum
piece, it would be impossible to reproduce today.
