The first floor of the Capitol is occupied mainly by offices. At the southeast corner is the Governor's Room or Executive Chamber, 60 by 40 feet, handsomely finished with wainscoting of mahogany, the ceilings and hangings being of Spanish leather. The Capitol at Albany is the second largest, but the most expensive building in America, its original cost having been increased nearly ten times, to about $30,000,000.
