To the Officers, Crew and Passengers numbering 1635 of the ill fated Liner "Titanic", wrecked on her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York April 14th, 1912. Commander E.J. Smith, born 1853, his last words were "Be British" just before the liner sank. British Heroes - The Brave Bandsmen playing "Nearer My God to Thee", whil'st the ship was sinking about 2 a.m. Monday, April 15th, 1912.
