Front:
Why San Francisco Will Get the
REASON No. 2
The Panama Canal is to unite the two greatest
oceans-the Atlantic and the Pacific.
Historians agree that the theatre of the coming
world's events will be staged on the Pacific Ocean.
It is therefore logical to locate the Exposition
celebrating the completion of the canal in 1915 at
the chief seaport of the Pacific Ocean-San Fran-
cisco, rather than at New Orleans, an inland city.
Naval demonstrations will be an important feature
of the Exposition. The Bay of San Francisco, 100
miles long and 10 miles wide, can accommodate at
anchor or in maneuvers all the warships of the
world.
Through the building of the Panama Canal, San
Francisco becomes the most strategic seaport of
the United States in the world-wide expansion of
this country's commerce.
By holding the Exposition in San Francisco the
nations of the world will be brought to a realiza-
tion of this fact.
The United States will derive the greater benefit
in naming 'San Francisco the Exposition
1915."
