Wanamaker's Mailing Card 1876-32d Anniversary-1908 John Tyler John Tyler was a tall, thin, blue-eyed, light-complexioned man, with prominent features. He was called aristocratic because he drove four horses to his coach, but his was to please his bride, whom he married while in the White House. He was successively Congressman, Governor, United States Senator, Vice-President and President. He presided at the Peace Congress in Washington in 1861. Failing to avert war, he entered the Confederate Congress. |
