PRESIDENT CORAZON C. AQUINO is the seventh
and first woman president of the Philippines. Born in
Manila on January 25, 1933 Mrs. Aquino was
catapulted to the presidency through people power –
the toppling of the 20-year old Marcos dictatorship by
the coalition of people of all ages and from all walks
of life who in peace and prayer rallied behind the
military reformist led by Minister Juan Ponce Enrile
and Lt. Gen. Fidel Ramos. Mrs. Aquino is the widow
of the assassinated popular oppositionist leader,
Benigno S. Aquino, Jr.
