Last week I received a phone call from
a country-sounding gent who wanted to
know if I could give him the market price
for a piece of art. With close questioning
I discovered that he is a trailer repo man
whose latest repo had a framed print on
a wall - he knew it wasn't one of the
standard art works which come with
mobile homes. It is "a reproductive,
print by Louisa May Alcott_" I said
that I had read her books when young
but didn't know about her prints or
paintings. He assured me that he did
not read, but had been offered $100.
for the print at a flea market. I
told him to hold out for $200.
