Tombs of the Mamelukes, Cairo. These most interesting
buildings were erected by the Mamelukes, who were the
rulers of Egypt from 1250 to 1380. Many of the tombs have
now fallen into ruin, and of some the minarets are all that
remain. The ground neighbouring these tombs has been
used as a modern burial ground.
