Additional Details:
The dividing line between the northern and southern parts of the city is named after Henry M. Flagler who is credited in being in a large part responsible for the founding of the city of Miami. Mr. Flagler was persuaded to bring his railroad from the northern part of the state down into Miami to escape what had been several severe winters in the north of Florida. Miami, with its even year round climate then became the magic city of the South.
