THE CONCORD COACH
Made in Concord, New Hampshire, by skilled Yankee craftsmen, the Concord Coach was
extremely rugged and able to travel well over what passed as roads in the west. They
used a 6 horse team and weighed 2500 pounds and in the 1880's, cost around $1200.00.
The windows were closed with curtains during inclement weather. It carried nine
passengers inside AND as many more as could clamber on top, plus mail and up to a
half ton of baggage. The driver and guard rode atop the coach, being exposed to the
elements, indians, and outlaws.
