Thomas Alva Edison built this two-story clapboard
structure in Menlo Park, New Jersey in 1876.
For many
years this laboratory served Edison as a main place of
research. Here he created the phonograph, the first
practical incandescent lamp, and many other brilliant
electrical discoveries.
