Steam returned to the 3-foot gauge White Pass & Yukon Ry. In 1982 when 2-8-2 No. 73 was restored to haul summer excursion trains. No. 73 (Baldwin, 1947) was the last steam locomotive acquired by the railway. Following occasional duty on snow clearing trains in the early 1960s, the Mikado was retired in June. 1964 and put on display at Bennett, B. C. in 1968.
