Population 1,234. Located 44 miles S. Dallas on
U. S. Highway 77, State Highway 34, Mo. Pac.
Ry., MK&T (Katy) Ry., Texas Electrid Interur-
ban. Founded about 1880. The first postmaster
here, who had traveled in Italy, suggested the
name "Sunny Italy" because of the sinshine and
climate which reminded him of Italy. The post
office department cut out the "sunny" and ac-
cepted Italy. There were no Italians here and
only one since, who came from Philadelphia.
In heart of "black land cotton area" crops are
cotton, corn, grain, vegetables. Thickly settled
level farming area.
