This volunteer parade unit recreates the
period from 1872 to 1880 when the ori-
ginal 6th Infantry, headquartered at this
frontier post, were kept busy with patrol
duties, guarding railroad construction
workers and restraining traders from il-
legally trading guns and whiskey to hos-
tile Indian tribes.
