They took the "Roosevelt" to Etah via Sydney, Nova Scotia, the Straits of Belle Isle, through Davis Straits into Baffin's Bay and Smith Sound to the Greenland base of operations. There they would leave stores of food for the return trip and stopping in the Whale Sound region to take on his Eskimos and dogs. |
