As a dream of Dr. Clarence W. Pierce, this school
opened in 1947 with 70 students. Its faculty to
student ratio was 5 to 1. Its growth rate was such
that in 1951 when it became a liberal arts college,
it had 1600 students. Today, with over 15,000 stu-
dents, the campus is still developing. This view
shows the mall.
