TRIGG COUNTY COURTHOUSE
Cadiz, Kentucky
CIVIL WAR HISTORY...
General Hylan B. Lyon, with 800 men, invaded Ken-
tucky December 1864 to enforce CSA draft law and
divert U. S. troops from Nashville, Tenn. In twenty-
three days he burned seven courthouses used by Union
Forces. Lyon came to Cadiz on Dec. 13, 1864. The
U. S. forces fled the courthouse, leaving men with
smallpox. Lyon burned the contaminated building.
The county records were saved. He later moved his
forces to Eddyville, Ky. ... The present building was
dedicated 1922.
